Sunlight Liquid is something no household should be without. Not just because it’s perfect for washing dishes, but it actually has a whole range of incredible and mind-blowing uses about which you may not know. Seriously though, you should never be caught without a bottle of this miracle liquid in your detergent cupboard and here are a few reasons why:
It works wonders to treat grease stains
Believe it or not, liquid dish soap can actually be used as a laundry detergent too. That’s because it’s incredible as a way to cut through grease. This means that grease stains on clothing, furniture and other textiles are no match for the power of good old-fashion dishwashing liquid. Simply apply a small amount of dishwashing detergent directly to the stain. Then gently rub the fabric together to evenly spread the soap and allow it to sit for a few minutes. Finally, rinse and wash the item according to the wash care label instructions and voila! The stain is gone.
It keeps your spectacles and sunglasses from fogging-up
This is a pretty neat trick that has got loads of attention lately. That’s because people in South Africa are required by law to wear protective face masks as an additional health precaution in the fight against the global pandemic. Unfortunately, for people who wear glasses, this often leads to the fogging of their spectacles and sunglasses. Not being able to see is a major issue, especially if you are driving or performing an essential service. But there is a simple solution, thanks to Sunlight Dishwashing Liquid. A drop or two of the detergent applied directly to your glasses in a thin but even layer. Apply it to both the inside and outside of the lenses with a good quality microfibre cloth. Allow the soap to dry for a few minutes and then buff it out with a fresh cloth. Make sure to use a fabric that doesn’t shed or leave bits of cotton on the lens. This process will help to prevent your spectacles from steaming up when you wear a face mask.
You can turn it into bubbles for hours of kiddie entertainment
Your kids being at home more often is the new norm for many parents – so many of us are turning to creative waste to fill the house and keep kids entertained. What better way to keep kids entertained than with homemade bubbles? It’s a simple and cost-effective way to teach your children about the wonderful art of bubbles. All you need to make the bubble solution is to combine 1/2 a cup of white sugar with 4 cups warm water. Once the sugar is completely dissolved, add 1/2 cup of liquid dish soap! For bigger bubbles, let the mixture sit for a few hours before you put it to the test. You can create a bubble wand with a piece of metal bent into a circle or bend a metal clothing hanger into a ring and watch your little ones enjoy.
It can unclog the toilet
Let’s face it, a clogged toilet is one of the most unsettling things that can happen in your home. It can leave you with flashbacks of backbreaking plunging and unpleasant chemicals, but there is actually a more straightforward solution for your blocked toilet. Dishwashing liquid to the rescue – simply pour about a half cup of liquid dishwashing detergent into your toilet and let it sit for approximately 20-30 minutes, then pour 3-4 litres of boiling-hot water – from the kettle is perfect. It should put an end to your clogged toilet nightmares! Liquid dish detergent is also a great alternative to toilet cleaning products if you are ever in a bind. Let’s face it – we are already pretty attached to our dishwashing liquid. So, the introduction of these hacks has only cemented its position at the top of the podium when it comes to your household detergents. Long live our beloved dishwashing liquid.
